The Congress of the People (COPE) is a political party in South Africa, established in 2008 by former members of the African National Congress (ANC). The formation of COPE was a direct result of dissatisfaction and factional splits within the ANC, particularly…   after the controversial ousting of then-President Thabo Mbeki.
