African Independent Congress

The African Independent Congress (AIC) is a political party in South Africa, established in the early 21st century, specifically in 2005. It was born out of a local dispute in the Matatiele municipality over provincial boundaries, which were redrawn, moving the area from KwaZulu-Natal to the Eastern Cape. This redrawing of boundaries was met with significant opposition from the local population, who felt that their views and interests were not adequately considered by the national government. The AIC emerged as a political expression of this discontent, advocating for the rights and interes…  ts of local communities and seeking to address issues of governance that directly affect them.
